I love mango lassi’s. It’s practically sacrilege for me to go to an Indian restaurant and not order a mango lassi. Mangoes are my favorite fruit and on this blog you will find lots of smoothies that include mango not to mention jams that include mango, mango crabcakes and a variety of other mango recipes. Surprisingly, I don’t have mango lassi. So when I was perusing Sapana’s blog for a recipe for her surprise virtual baby shower from her Blogging Marathon friends, this was the recipe selected. As you can see from the collage below, she has a wide variety of recipes on her blog and every body found something delicious and unique from her blog to celebrate her upcoming bundle of joy.
- 1 mango
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- a pinch of saffron
- 7 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients except the ice in the blender and puree. Add ice and process until smooth.
I love Sapana’s version better than the restaurant version. The restaurant version is usually richer and thicker and is quite an indulgence. Hers felt lighter that I wouldn’t feel so guilty in indulging in more often. Also I am not sure the restaurant version always includes the cardamom and saffron as I found this version more flavorful as well.
