It’s time for Food of the World again and this month we are doing Turkey. Turkey has such a diverse cuisine with one foot in Europe and the other in the Middle East. Olives, dates, figs, grape leaves and feta feature widely in their cuisine as with other Mediterranean countries. Warm spices like cumin and coriander also play a big part of their seasonings as is common in Middle Eastern food. Middle Eastern spice blends like baharat & raz al hanout are often used in Turkish cuisine as well.
Since I didn’t have time to come up with a new Turkish dish for today, I am instead going to let you feast on some Middle Eastern delicacies that would be enjoyed in Turkey that I’ve cooked up in the past:
Menemem – Turkish Breakfast Stew
Tabbouleh – Bulgur Wheat Salad
Manakish – Za’atar Bread
Khaliat Nahal – Stuffed Bread Rolls
